About Us

Our Vision

Rather than giving everyone the same, we believe in giving each child what they need to be able to have the same opportunities and experiences.

Although both promote fairness, equality achieves this through treating everyone the same regardless of need, while equity achieves this through treating people differently dependent on need. However, this different treatment may be the key to reaching true equality.

"Through Play Comes Learning"

At Priory Parkside Pre-School our philosophy is...

  • To create a stimulating, caring and safe environment for all children in our care.

  • To follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, delivered through play,

  • To actively promote the development of positive self-image within the children.

  • To work as partners with parents/carers in an open and honest way.

  • To share information, resources and practical advice, with parents and other agencies.

  • To promote Equal Opportunities and therefore value each child as an individual, regardless of race, gender or special educational needs (including gifted children)

  • To provide a positive atmosphere for both the child and the parent/carer.

  • To support staff on training courses enabling them to develop skills

We are passionate about MAKATON SIGN LANGUAGE

You may have seen it being used by ‘Mr Tumble’ on CBeebies.

Why will we be introducing it to your children?

  • It encourages eye contact, turn-taking, making choices, understanding and sharing information

  • Using signs or gestures promotes and stimulates speech development– it does not stop your child from talking – it has been proven to have the opposite effect.

  • Sign Language allows children to communicate before speech has developed.  This in turn reduces the frustration and tantrums which tend to occur in the second year of life (the terrible twos)

  • Sign language is fun!– especially when combined with songs, nursery rhymes, and games.

  • Using Makaton signs can help bridge the gap between languages in bi-lingual families.
